What is Mounjaro?

Here's some important information about your Mounjaro prescription to help you feel confident about getting started.
Mounjaro is a prescription weekly injectable medication (containing the active substance tirzepatide) used for long-term weight management. ZOTO prescribes Mounjaro for adults with obesity, subject to eligibility. It's used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

Your Doses:
  • Each pen holds 4 doses.
  • You will take one dose per week.
  • Your available strengths are 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg, and 15mg.
How to Start
  1. Start Low: if this is your first time using Mounjaro or if you've had a gap in treatment, always begin with the lowest dose: 2.5mg.
  2. Increase Gradually: Most people move up to the next dose each month, as higher doses are often more effective.
  3. Watch for Side Effects: If you experience any side effects, stop taking the medication and contact your prescriber or a healthcare professional for guidance.

Be sure to read the instructions on how to use the pen so you feel comfortable administering your dose. Our team is here to help with any questions you may have about your order.

How does it work?

Mounjaro is a unique dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist. It mimics two natural gut hormones:

  • GIP (Glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide): This hormone helps regulate energy balance and may directly affect fat storage.
  • GLP-1 (Glucagon-like peptide-1): This hormone reduces appetite, increases feelings of fullness, and slows down gastric emptying. By activating both receptors, Mounjaro helps to reduce food intake, decrease hunger, and ultimately leads to weight loss.

What are the common side effects?

The most common side effects of Mounjaro are generally gastrointestinal and tend to be mild to moderate, often subsiding as your body adjusts to the medication (especially during dose escalation). They include:

Nausea and Vomiting
Diarrhoea/ Constipation
Indigestion/Heartburn
Feeling bloated
Stomach pain
Headache
Fatigue
Dizziness

If your symptoms become severe or intolerable, you should stop using the treatment and contact a healthcare professional for further advice.
